Moraga Popular 2026: Music, Sardine Skewers, and Tradition on the Beaches of Marbella
On Thursday, September 17, 2026, the Moraga Popular will celebrate the end of summer with a festive event in Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara. Enjoy live music, traditional sardine skewers (espetos), and a vibrant atmosphere at four iconic beaches.
This free event, organized by the Marbella City Council in collaboration with the Cofradía de Pescadores (Fishermen’s Guild), kicks off at 8:00 PM. It will take place simultaneously at Playa de la Venus in Marbella, Playa de la Salida in San Pedro Alcántara, Playa Real de Zaragoza in Las Chapas, and Playa de Levante in Puerto Banús. Attendees will enjoy approximately 1,700 kilos of sardines grilled on espetos, 1,000 kilos of chopped tomato salad, as well as bread and free drinks, making it the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.
A Tribute to Tradition and Tourism with Sardine Skewers
The Moraga Popular 2026 honors the region’s fishing heritage and appreciates the tourists who visit each year. This event celebrates the traditional moraga, where sardine skewers (espetos) are grilled over an open wood fire. This year, around 1,700 kilos of sardines and 1,000 kilos of chopped tomato salad will be given out for free, turning the moraga into a grand community celebration.
The Moraga Popular was born in 2010 as a “Tribute to Tourism and the Municipality” and, after a pause due to the pandemic, was revived in 2022. The Cofradía de Pescadores handles the fish supply and its preparation following the traditional method.
